Dearly beloved, we gather here to pay our respects and celebrate the life of the remarkable Albertine Johnson, affectionately known to us all as Ms. Daphne. Born on the eighth day of January in the year of our Lord 1936, in the lush hills of Burnt Savannah, Jamaica, Ms. Daphne was a beacon of love and joy until her peaceful passing on the eighth day of April 2024, in the warm embrace of Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Ms. Daphne's life was a testament to the power of laughter, love, and thoughtful kindness. She had a humor as bright as the morning sun, a heart as wide as the ocean, and a spirit as gentle as a southern breeze. Ms. Daphne's laughter was a balm to the weary, her love a refuge for the brokenhearted, and her thoughtful gestures a light in the darkness.
Her talents were many, but she took particular joy in the arts of sewing and fishing. With every stitch, Ms. Daphne weaved her love into the very fabric of our lives, and with every catch, she taught us the patience and perseverance of a soul in tune with nature's bounty. Her hands, though now at rest, have left behind a tapestry of memories that will forever warm our hearts and homes.
Ms. Daphne was the cherished matriarch of a family as bountiful as her harvests. She leaves behind a legacy through her beloved children: Wayne (Lesley) Wright, Roger, Avis Johnson, Lare' (Livia )Johnson, Oral (Susan) Johnson, Sharon (Llewlyn) Ashley, and Stan (Viola) Johnson. Each branch of her family tree stands strong, bearing the fruits of her wisdom, humor, and love.
As we say our earthly farewells to Ms. Daphne, let us hold fast to the memories that bind us to her eternal spirit. She lived a life rich with moments that drew laughter from our bellies, love from our hearts, and thoughts from our deepest wells of reflection. Ms. Daphne's journey on this side of heaven has come to a close, but her story will be told through the ages as we carry her spirit with us in all that we do.
Let us go forth with the assurance that Ms. Daphne now rests in the glory of everlasting peace, where the waters are still, the fields are ripe, and the laughter never ends. Blessed be her memory among us, now and forevermore. Amen.
